FED: National holiday road increases to four

The death of a 55-year pedestrian in Victoria has brought the national holiday road toll to four.

Police say the Warragul man was struck by a semi-trailer while walking on a lane on the Princes freeway at Trafalgar south-east of Melbourne early this morning and died at the scene.

The death is Victoria's second fatality this Christmas holiday season so far.

Meanwhile .. in Queensland .. a motorcyclist died in a high speed crash at Emerald after earlier evading police attempts to stop him.

It was the first road death in Queensland this holiday season.

There has been one death in the Northern Territory .. all other states and territories remain fatality free at this stage.
